The Middle Ages & The Fantasy Sword
The fantasy sword is a modern
phenomenon stemming from the romantic view of the middle ages
(the period in Europeon history between antiquity and the
Renaissance, often dated between AD 476 to 1453). From this
romanticized view, the fantasy sword was created. Often modeled
after actual historical swords of the medieval times, they are
often more intricate, detailed and quite gaudy. The fantasy
swords of today usually depict the future. Modeled after the
medieval times, they depict the fantasies of the future and what
the sword may evolve into. The fantasy sword is often a fusion
of technology and steel. A weapon that can carry the warrior to
battle and often be the marginal difference between defeat or
victory.
